San Francisco Middle Schools Stop Teaching Algebra

As Common Core standards take place in schools across the country, changes are being made to the current curriculum. In San Francisco, some parents are upset that according to the new standards, Algebra 1 will no longer be offered in middle school. Instead, students will have to wait until high school to take this course. Ana Tintocalis of KQED in San Francisco and a Here & Now contributor explains what’s behind the move and what it means for students.
