Governor hopeful Tom Wolf is making a last tour of the state, hoping to get out the vote next Tuesday. His tour bus pulled up outside Penn State’s Berkey Creamery yesterday so Wolf could meet with supporters.

Tom Wolf is still polling ahead of incumbent governor Tom Corbett by double digits, but you wouldn’t know that from his crunch time campaign schedule. The Penn State creamery was the first of five stops for Wolf on Wednesday.

Wolf shook hands, posed for pictures, then spoke briefly. One of his key talking points was education funding and making Pennsylvania more attractive to students after graduation.

“When you graduate," said Wolf, "those of you are at Penn State, I don’t want you thinking San Francisco is the place to go, New York, Boston or Austin. I want you to say Pennsylvania’s the place to go. And we have some work to do to make that happen.”

Wolf said as governor he would work to create more good jobs in Pennsylvania. He cited a recent report based on data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics that says Pennsylvania is 50th in job creation.

“Now anyone out there who’s taken geography you know we only have 50 states in this country, so we’re last," said Wolf. "You can’t get any worse than that. Whatever this governor’s doing, it doesn’t work.”

John Light, president of Teamsters Local 8, came out to support Wolf. The union represents 2,500 workers on the Penn State campus.

“The reason why we came out is we need a governor to support middle class, support education, and obviously we’re in at both ends. We’re union and we’re also in the educational field,” said Light.

High schooler Katie Merritt is also worried about education.

“I’m a senior at State High," said Merritt, "so I’ve seen the effects of the cuts that Corbett has put on our state and I think that Tom Wolf is a really good candidate to change the education system.”

Wolf is continuing efforts like this one to get out the vote up until Election Day. On Sunday, President Obama will campaign for Wolf in Philadelphia.
