Make A Difference
Become an Official Visitor/Monitor
Over 4,000 men and women are incarcerated in the three correctional facilities in Centre County: SCI Rockview, SCI Benner, and Centre County Correctional Facility. Each month volunteers from the Centre County Chapter of the PA Prison Society receive more requests for visits than we can accommodate. We need your help.
• Sit down one-on-one with incarcerated men and women who are experiencing problems (video visits are also available) • Elevate their concerns directly with staff or others who may be able to help when conditions impact health and safety • Provide encouragement, support, and a connection to someone on “the outside” • Assist families in communicating with and caring for their loved one • Training and mentoring provided by experienced visitors/monitors
“I did finally get my eye surgery so our persistence paid off. Thank you for helping me navigate this terrible medical department here. I’ll take the small victory.” - Stephen
“The PPS Official Visitor has more of an influence on my son’s well being than anyone. And I mean that 100 percent, not only because of the trust she’s established with Larry, but also with prison staff who respect her and the Prison Society tremendously. Because of her we both have hope.” - Dawn
“Words can’t even express what you all mean to my son and I and countless others and their families as well.” - Mayra, Helpline Caller
