Penn State President Discusses Healthcare, Employee Raises
Penn State President Eric Barron says employees will see increases in what they pay toward healthcare, but they can also likely expect raises this year. Barron released this information ina series of videos to staff and faculty membersto mark the end of the spring semester. Among many topics concerning the university, Barron discussed the impacts of the state budget and rising healthcare costs.
While last year’s state budget impasse has been resolved, Barron warned the next budget deadline is looming and similar issues could arise. He also discussed the increasing cost of healthcare. He said the university is looking to find savings on the yearly increases in health services, including changes in deductible and co-pay.
In addition, Barron announced plans to negotiate raises for faculty and staff with the Board of Trustees for the coming year.
