Cleveland Wants To Avoid Being The Next City With Riots

Police in Cleveland are being told to get out their riot gear as the trial of Michael Brelo comes to a close. Brelo is the patrol officer charged with involuntary manslaughter for the death of two unarmed people during a car chase in 2012.

In light of the recent violent protests over police conduct in Baltimore, Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson is asking residents to let the police force maintain law and order after a verdict is reached.

Joining in Mayor Jackson’s call for calm is a local hero – former NFL player Reggie Rucker, who now runs the Cleveland Peacemakers Alliance. Rucker speaks with Here & Now’s Lisa Mullins.
