The 3/20 Coalition is holding a number of events this weekend in downtown State College to commemorate the two-year anniversary of the police killing of Osaze Osagie.

Since last Friday, the 3/20 Coalition has held daily events to honor the life of Osagie. Coalition co-leader Tierra Williams said that’s to keep people engaged for more than a day.

“We wanted to keep everyone engaged for 10 days and to keep this on their mind, not just for that 20th, not just for the day before... It's so important that people remember that injustice happens all year round," Williams said.

The Coalition will hold a protest on Friday at 5 p.m. before a day-long community festival on Saturday from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Williams said the event will start with a memorial walk/run beginning at Sidney Friedman Park at 10 a.m. Other events will start at noon at the State College Municipal Building. There will also be a poetry slam, a concert and festival activities.

“By request of the family, they didn't want this day to be too solemn but more of an honoring," Williams said.

Throughout the day, Williams said the coalition will fundraise money for the Osagie family and the Osaze Osagie College Scholarship Endowment.

On Sunday, the 3/20 Coalition will close the "10 Days of Action" with a healing circle for Black community members to talk about their experiences.
