Thirty-eight percent of Americans rely on the internet as their main source of news, according to a survey by the Pew Research Center. That’s good news for Google and Facebook, which make billions in advertising revenue from those readers. But the News Media Alliance, which represents about 2,000 news organizations, is trying to gain more leverage to negotiate deals with the companies.
