The Folk Show Special Edition: Ballads, with host Tom Beebee.
The second hour of the broadcast, “Ballad Worlds”, features the different worlds that folk ballads create for their listeners, featuring ghosts, elves, devils, incest, patricide, sistercide, and various other “-cides”, and of course plenty of lovers who literally die of a broken heart. These worlds have casts of characters that range from Kings and Queens of England down to outlaw types willing to risk everything for a 1952 Vincent Black Lightning. The first hour features a broad mix of Folk, including several featuring the animal of the hour: the groundhog.
