WPSU-FM is thrilled to announce that on Saturday, February 1, we’ll bring some outstanding new programs to our weekend schedule. Below, you’ll find descriptions of the new shows, and a preview of the schedule.

The New Yorker Radio Hour
Saturdays at 12:00 p.m.
In the tradition of The New Yorker magazine, The New Yorker Radio Hour brings you a wide variety of profiles, storytelling and insightful conversations, hosted by David Remnick. Programs have focused on everything from human trafficking, DACA at the Supreme Court, 50 years of LGBTQ Rights, and China’s one-child policy; to a live performance by James Taylor and Lucinda Williams; to conversations with Billy Porter, Greta Gerwig, Julian Castro and Terry Gross.
It’s Been a Minute
Saturday evenings at 6:00 p.m.
It's Been a Minute with Sam Sanders is a weekly one-hour engaging conversation -- a timely and topical look back at the week's news, with pop culture features and interviews. Sam talks with journalists, newsmakers, and listeners about news, popular culture, and the internet -- stories big and small, about all subjects, with equal vigor and interest. This show provides an irreverent, casual space for listeners who don’t know how to process the pace of current events but can’t think about anything else. Sam also spends time with actors, musicians, and comedians, interviewing them in long-form segments that give your listeners a chance to really get to know them.
The Moth Radio Hour
Saturday evenings at 7:00 p.m.
The Moth Radio Hour is a radio space for compelling, curated storytelling. The individuals from all walks of life who share their stories are recorded on-stage before a live audience. There are no props or sound effects. Just fellow human beings, alone on stage, sharing personal stories: sometimes hilarious, sometimes poignant, but always engaging and thought-provoking.
New Times for Some Current Shows
Some of your favorite shows will be heard at new times: Wait, Wait Don’t Tell Me will move to Saturday morning at 10:00, with a repeat Sunday at noon. Planet Money and How I Built This will be heard at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday; You’ll hear Mountain Stage Sunday nights at 8:00; Fresh Air Weekend moves to 6:00 p.m. Sundays; and This American Life will be heard Sundays at 7:00 p.m.
News for Early Birds
For the early risers among us, WPSU will offer additional broadcasts of public radio news shows at 6:00 a.m. on weekends. You’ll hear Living on Earth on Saturday morning and Fresh Air Weekend on Weekend Sunday morning. Living on Earth will also be heard at its usual time, 10:00 a.m. Sundays. Fresh Air Weekend will also be heard Sunday evenings at 6:00 p.m.
And a fond farewell…
We’ll also say a fond “farewell” to a piece of public radio history: Car Talk, and its hilarious hosts, Tom and Ray Magliozzi. The Best of Car Talk, as it’s called now, had been repackaged for a while, from older recorded material, after Tom’s passing. Now the show is no longer in production, and it is offered only in reruns. While Car Talk will no longer be aired on WPSU-FM, you’ll still be able to “waste a perfectly good hour,” as Ray likes to say, listening to The Best of Car Talk every Saturday morning at 10:00 on one of our HD channels, WPSU 2. You can hear WPSU 2 with an HD radio, or listen online: click the yellow “listen live” button on our website, and select “WPSU 2” from the list of streams.
Our schedule will no longer include Studio 360 (which will no longer be available to stations), Splendid Table, and On the Media.
