It's the beginning of a summer of love around San Diego — at least for tarantulas

LEILA FADEL, HOST:

Good morning. I'm Leila Fadel.

It's the beginning of a summer of love around San Diego, at least for tarantulas. Two species native to the area are coming out of hiding by the thousands in search of a mate. The California black tarantula and the San Diego bronze tarantula will be looking for love in into September. Experts say you should avoid handling the black species because their hairs can easily irritate the skin. I guess they don't need to shave before date night.
