WPSU-FM Wins Three National Reporting Awards

WPSU won three PRNDI (Public Radio News Directors, Inc.) awards at Saturday night's awards banquet. The station competes in the Division C (small station) category. 

 

Patty Satalia took 1st place in the Interview category for her Take Note interview on "The Ford Pinto Case."
 
Second prize in the Continuing Coverage category went to Erin Cassidy Hendrick and Emily Reddy for their stories on a proposed student housing complex in Ferguson Township that made State College residents concerned about the potential for water contamination. 

 

And in the Arts Feature category, Emily Reddy won 2nd place for her story, "'Good Kids' Dramatizes The Steubenville, Ohio Rape Case At Penn State."
 

The Keystone Crossroads reporting project that WPSU is a part of also won three awards. One was by WPSU reporter Eleanor Klibanoff. She won 1st place in the Nationally Edited News Feature category for her story about Hazleton titled "The Immigrants It Once Shut Out Bring New Life To Pennsylvania Town."

Klibanoff was also a part of a team award for Keystone Crossroads. They took 2nd place in the Series category for stories on underfunded pensions in Pennsylvania.

Emily Reddy is the news director at WPSU-FM, the NPR-affiliate public radio station for central and northern Pennsylvania.
