Lawmakers in Washington this week are navigating a new political landscape, in light of House Speaker John Boehner’s impending departure from Congress next month. Boehner surprised the political establishment when he announced he was stepping down from both the speakership and Congress altogether, in part prompted by the visit of Pope Francis.
