Illinois' New Governor Goes After State Unions To Address Fiscal Woes

Illinois is going through its worst fiscal crisis in decades — and possibly the worst in the nation.

The state’s new governor, Bruce Rauner, has offered a number of solutions – from terminating non-essential contracts to turning down thermostats.

But this week, ahead of today’s State of the State address, he angered union leaders and others by aggressively going after state employees in a letter to the General Assembly.
