The upcoming short film “Stars and Bars” is about a former motocross driver who returns to his rural Pennsylvania hometown with his daughter. The film brings in Pennsylvania talent, like Penn State graduate and actor Jonathan Fernandez (Lethal Weapon), Curwensville actress Mayami Beniquez, and Altoona producer Michael DePiro.

Typically, the police department would send their stray animals to the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society, based in nearby Altoona, since the station lacks the resources necessary to hold stray animals. But, in a recent social media post, police say they can no longer act as that in-between.

A job quota system reinstated by the Bangladeshi government has sparked protests where nearly 200 people have been killed and thousands hospitalized and injured. Penn State students hosted a vigil to raise awareness about the issue, despite courts scaling back the quota system on Sunday.

Pennsylvania hunters will soon see a growth in state game lands. On Friday, July 12, the Pennsylvania Board of Game Commissioners approved adding a little over 5,200 acres to state game lands.
