Penn State students and faculty held a “Topping Out” ceremony on Friday for a new recital hall being built on campus.
Community members came together for music and ice cream to celebrate the uppermost steel beam being placed in the new recital hall for Penn State’s School of Music.
Students and faculty were invited to sign the beam and watch as construction workers installed it into the structure.
Event attendee Amy Milgrub Marshall, a writer and editor for the College of Arts and Architecture, says a new recital hall has been in the works for a long time.
“I know that the people working on it are very excited that it is finally coming to fruition and most importantly it’s going to provide a great experience for both music students and concertgoers alike,” Marshall said.
The new recital hall is expected to be complete by fall of 2018.
