What do Michael J. Fox, Neil Diamond, and Linda Ronstadt have in common? They’ve all been diagnosed and are living with Parkinson’s disease.
According to the National Institute on Aging, Parkinson’s is a progressive, degenerative neurological disease that can affect mobility, coordination and balance. It’s often associated with tremors of the hands and an unsteady walking pattern.
However, it can also show up as stiffening of joints, behavioral changes, sleep disturbances, depression, fatigue and difficulty remembering things. While there is no cure for Parkinson's disease, medicines and other therapies can often relieve some of the symptoms. For more information, visit nia.nih.gov.
