Police Say Security Footage Deleted In Penn State Fraternity Pledge Death

A surprising new detail was revealed Thursday at the preliminary hearing of Penn State fraternity members charged in the death of Timothy Piazza.

State College Police Detective David Scicchitano said the investigation suspects the security footage of the basement in Beta Theta Pi’s house was deleted on February 6.

Piazza spent part of his final hours in the basement, where the security camera was previously reported broken. But Scicchitano said one of the defendants allegedly deleted the security footage two days after Piazza died, before the police were able to collect it.

Centre County DA Stacy Parks Miller said the FBI is working to recover the footage and she expects a forensic report.

"It won't take long," Parks Miller said.

The preliminary hearing is scheduled to wrap up on Friday, where four remaining defense attorneys will do cross-examinations.
