Congress Heads Toward Recess With Export-Import Bank In Limbo

When House lawmakers approved a three-month extension to the highway funding bill this week, it did not include a provision to renew authority for the Export-Import Bank. That leaves the bank, which offers loans and loan guarantees to businesses that help promote American exports abroad, in limbo.

The bank has become a hot-button political issue for conservatives who see the bank as corporate welfare. With Congress heading into summer recess, it looks like the issue will not be settled this summer.
