Faculty, staff, and students filled Penn State University Park’s HUB-Robeson Center Monday for the grand opening of the newly expanded and renovated space. There are 160,000 square feet of improvements.
Prizes, tours, cake, entertainment, and music, followed a ribbon cutting to open the new space. The expansion and renovations took nearly two years and cost more than $44 million.
Penn State junior Lindsay D’Aiuto says she’s excited for the new flex theater.
“I’m really intrigued about the flex theater over here," said D'Aiuto. "I think it’s a really interesting concept and I think that it’ll be utilized by a lot of different student groups because it’s so interchangeable.”
Alex Gentry who works at the HUB information desk, says he’s excited to have more spaces for meetings.
“I’m excited about having more meeting space in general," said Gentry. "Just because we need more meeting space. We reserve tens of thousands of meetings a year and we still could use more. So it’s gonna be nice to have that.”
The newly expanded and renovated HUB is now open.
