Class Gift Campaign Executive Director Tom Beeby announces the Pollinators' Garden Entry Gate as the class of 2019's class gift.

Penn State’s Class Gift Campaign announced today the legacy the class of 2019 will leave on campus.

“I am un-bee-lievably happy to announce that the class of 2019 has chosen to support the pollinators garden entry gate.”

Tom Beeby is the executive director of the Class Gift Campaign. As a new addition to the arboretum, the garden will explain pollinators’ relationship to plants, and support pollinator research.

Students’ other choices were an LGBTQA+ Student Resource Center emergency fund or a scholarship for WorkLink, a certificate program at Penn State meant to help students with intellectual disabilities.

Penn State Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations Rich Bundy says the garden will leave a lasting imprint, like past class gifts, including the HUB aquarium and “We Are” sculpture.

“The arboretum will soon fulfill its longstanding vision for a garden that will attract and sustain native pollinators, species of birds and insects.”

Construction for the garden is set to begin in early 2019.
