"What's Love Got to Do with It?" Valentine's Day Cabaret
Better than Candy Hearts: A Theatrical Valentine’s Cabaret Comes to Huntingdon
Valentine’s Day is often defined by its trappings: the scent of red roses, the chalky sweetness of conversation hearts, and the pressure of a perfect romantic gesture. But as any theater fan knows, a story of the heart is rarely that simple. On February 14, the Huntingdon County Arts Council and The Playhouse at McConnellstown invite the community to peel back the red cellophane and explore the real thing with "What’s Love Got to Do with It?", an intimate musical cabaret evening hosted at the Huntingdon County Arts Center.
The production trades the predictable box of chocolates for a vibrant musical journey that is as diverse as love itself. From the "Hopelessly Devoted" romanticism of Grease to the sharp-tongued wit of Kiss Me, Kate’s "I Hate Men," the evening promises a relatable look at every stage of a relationship. By pairing Playhouse vocalists with the artistic atmosphere of the Arts Center, the event offers a sophisticated and cost-effective alternative to the traditional Valentine’s date.
This special production serves as a unique collaboration, bringing the theatrical expertise of The Playhouse at McConnellstown directly into the Huntingdon County Arts Center’s performance space for a truly community-centered event.
The evening will feature a curated soundtrack that blends Broadway classics with modern hits, showcasing a repertoire that includes My Fair Lady, Mamma Mia, The Music Man, and Company. Audiences will enjoy powerhouse performances from local favorites including Jennifer Beaver, Clay Glenny, Abby Lambert, Oscar Pollock, Tate Pollock, Kylee Roles, Keith Sutton, and Dan Weston. Please note that this production includes music with adult themes and language that may be too spicy for minors. Parental supervision is advised.
“Come celebrate love in style this Valentine’s Day with an unforgettable evening of music, laughter, and romance!” commented musical director Abby Lambert. “Whether you're searching for love, have held onto it for years, or are in your anti-love phase, we have a song for you! From Broadway to Journey, our show is bound to entertain any music preference. Come share in the joy that live music can provide!"
The “What’s Love Got to Do With It?” cabaret will take place on February 14, 2026, starting at 7:00 PM. The event will be held at the Huntingdon County Arts Center located at 313 12th Street in Huntingdon. There is no set ticket price for this production; instead, admission is by donation at the door with proceeds benefitting both organizations.
