The original three members of The SEEN, a band formed in State College in 1981, have announced they will be reconvening to perform and celebrate the premiere of a 45-minute documentary, directed by longtime friend and band archivist, Greg Wallace, which celebrates the band’s history and impact on the local music scene. The film premiere and performance will take place on Saturday, July 12th , at Pine Grove Hall, during the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts.

The band, formed in 1981 by brothers Jeff and Doug Edmunds and their bandmate Glenn Sadin, started with a mix of classic 60s hits and then-current New Wave tunes. Their energetic live shows, quirky stage banter, and distinctive outfits quickly gained them local fame in the early 80s.

Drummer Doug Edmunds says that the band members are excited to be playing together for the first time since 2010. A gig that year in downtown State College was pulled together in support of the band’s CD release of 3 Days in June, its first record since their much-loved and critically acclaimed 1986 debut, Under The Sun/In The Rain. That first LP garnered positive reviews in national music magazines (Option, The Bob) and overseas in the influential Bucketful of Brains at the time.

While older brother Jeff has remained a State College resident since the 80s, brother Doug will be traveling from Chapel Hill, NC while guitarist Glenn Sadin will be traveling down from the greater Boston area. Says Sadin, “It’s going to be an amazing weekend! The fact that we’re all still actively making music on our own but eager to play together again speaks to the bond we all share. It’s still exciting to play SEEN music with each other, and to be able to do it in 2025 on top of premiering the documentary just blows my mind.”

Following the premiere of the 45-min documentary, which was assembled from original archival footage shot mostly in 1983 and ’84 on 16mm film and lovingly restored and edited by director Wallace, along with talented young Los Angeles-based editor Archer Ossman, The SEEN will play a set of songs that includes some of its earliest originals and favorites off both LPs.
