Penn State Symphonic Wind Ensemble | Resilience

Penn State Symphonic Wind Ensemble | Resilience

Join the Symphonic Wind Ensemble for a performance themed around the concept of resiliency. From overcoming illness and disability, to finding consciousness, the program explores pieces that speak to the highs and lows of existence. Featured on the program are two School of Music faculty artists – Anthony Costa on clarinet and Rachel Copeland as soprano soloist. Costa will perform the consortium premiere of Amanda Harberg’s gorgeous clarinet concerto. Copeland will sing the moving Symphony from Ivy Green by Mark Camphouse. Ivy Green, the symphony’s namesake and also the birthplace of Helen Keller, sets Helen’s own writings about her life to wind ensemble. Overcoming her loss of sight and hearing, Helen Keller went on to become an educator, author, and activist. Experience the resiliency of the human spirit with the Symphonic Wind Ensemble.

This concert serves as the preview to the Symphonic Wind Ensemble’s invited performance to the CBDNA (College Band Directors National Association) Regional Conference at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York.
