The Castanea Township Recreation Committee is hosting the Inaugural PA Chestnut Festival, Saturday, January 25th, 2-7 pm, at the Castanea Fireman's Picnic Grounds & Building, 859 Lower Creek Road, Piper Memorial Airport, Lock Haven, PA. The event celebrates the chestnut heritage in the Commonwealth and the American Chestnut Tree. The festival will feature chestnut-based foods such as chestnut coffee, chestnut and sausage stuffing balls, winter greens salad with chestnut vinaigrette dressing as well as many other items. Live music at 2 pm will feature John Stevens Doubleshot Polka Band and at 5 pm Private Stock Trio, a pop, rock and folk group. Over 20 vendors and exhibitors include Bald Birds Brewery, PA/NJ American Chestnut Foundation, crafters and the PA Game Commission. Outdoors, festival goers can have s'mores over burn barrels or use the portable ice skating rink. Free admission.
