Open Music is an experimental music ensemble that has been presenting unique, adventurous, and thought-provoking concerts in and around State College since 2014. For this show, a 6-piece ensemble will perform works by visionary American musician Joshua Abrams. Abrams music occupies a unique corner of the grainy and meditative branch of minimalism. His group, Natural Information Society, is an eclectic ensemble that weaves hypnotic patterns in melody, rhythm, and drone. Open Music will present a program of two mesmerizing works by Abrams, performed by an eclectic instrumentarium of our own consisting of harmonium, dulcimer, oud, bass, and drums.
