Interested in learning to play bagpipes?

The Nittany Highland Pipe Band will be holding an Open House for prospective bagpipe students on the afternoon of Sunday, 6 October from 2-4pm at the Match Factory in Bellefonte. Great Highland bagpipers and Highland drummers will be on hand to answer your questions.

Group lessons are $5 each and will be held on Sunday afternoons. Ability to read music is a plus, but not necessary. Students will need to purchase a practice chanter (~$75). NHPB will provide training materials and guidance for purchasing a chanter.

The band is also looking for drummers interested in expanding their percussion skills to include Highland drumming.

The Nittany Highland Pipe Band was established in 1973 in State College to perform, promote, and perpetuate the skills and traditions of Highland bagpiping and drumming. NHPB musicians range in age from teenage to retiree. The band marches in a dozen parades each year plus standing events. Solo pipers play for birthdays, weddings, funerals, and memorial services throughout the year.
