On September 27th, 2024 after a deluge of rain from a separate storm, Hurricane Helene traveled up through the Blue Ridge Mountains and caused catastrophic flooding and landslides in an area that is not equipped or prepared for this kind of weather. Southern Appalachia was devastated; entire homes and businesses were washed into the French Broad and Swannanoa Rivers that crested at 24.67 ft and 26.1 ft respectively. It will take years for the region to rebuild and continued relief efforts through donations will be a vital part of recovery.

State College native Laura Boswell lived in Asheville for the last 6 years and is organizing a benefit concert to raise money for continued relief efforts in Western North Carolina. Given Laura’s and other AVL musicians history at Elk Creek, and our affinity for the music scene in WNC, we wanted to support her efforts to help.

Proceeds will go to Beloved Asheville, an organization that has been on the front lines of disaster relief since the hurricane. Eric Ian Farmer, Hannah Bingman, Danny Brumbaugh, and Laura will all play sets.
