Hometown Voices: Katherine Bode-Lang & David L. Williams

Hometown Voices: Katherine Bode-Lang & David L. Williams

Hometown Voices, your local reading & performance series, will host our next event on Sunday, February 22, at 3pm. Local poet, Katherine Bode-Lang, will be reading alongside playwright and Penn State English faculty member, David L. Williams, at Tempest Studios (140 Kelly Alley). All readings are free and open to the public. Parking in the Fraser Deck (located just above Tempest Studios) is free on most Sundays. Come enjoy local writers and support your creative community!

Katherine Bode-Lang moved to central Pennsylvania to attend graduate school and never left. Her book, The Reformation, won the American Poetry Review/Honickman first book prize, and she has been published in numerous journals, including Rattle, Beloit Poetry Journal, and Tupelo Quarterly. She earned her MFA in poetry at Penn State, where she is now the Director of Education and Outreach in the Office for Research Protections. She keeps an overgrown garden on two-thirds of an acre in State College with her husband and daughter.

David L. Williams is a graduate of the theatre department of Cornell University, where he was a four-time award winner in the Heerman’s-McCalmon Playwriting contest, and received his MFA in playwriting from the University of Nebraska. He has written more than thirty plays and musicals, and his work has been produced across the United States and internationally in Australia, Italy, Canada, Denmark, Norway, and Lithuania. His productions include the world premieres of his full-length plays The Starving at Barter Theatre and The Censor at Throughline Theatre. His most recent book of plays, Disruptions, was published by Montag Press. He lives in Bellefonte, PA with his wonderful wife Kathleen and his amazing son Samuel, and he works as an Assistant Teaching Professor in the English department at Penn State.
