Ten Thousand Villages State College is celebrating the expansion of its store at 1341 South Atherton Street with an alpaca party scheduled for Saturday, October 16. Live alpacas are joining us! Experience these marvelous creatures up close … pose for photos with them, pet their luxurious fleece, chat with their caretakers, and peruse our selection of unique alpaca merchandise. Warriors Mark Alpacas will be onsite from 12:00 noon until 4:00 pm. After months of hard work, and thanks to generous donations, we have doubled our space and are proudly showing off our expanded village at many other festivities during this celebratory event. There is no charge to participate, and Ten Thousand Villages will offer special sales and promotions to all of our shoppers. We have plenty of free parking, including a rear parking lot that is open to all attendees. Musical duo Ted + Molly will entertain our guests from 4:30-5:30 pm. Ted McCloskey and Molly Countermine have been performing throughout Central Pennsylvania for more than 20 years. Their unique style blends originals and cover tunes spanning all genres and generations! Feel free to bring a chair or relax in one provided at the venue. Join a complimentary workshop to make your own Ojo de Dios (God’s Eye), fun for the whole family and being held from 12:00 noon until 1:00 pm! This woven craft is being sponsored by Weaving Wisdom, a local nonprofit organization that promotes intergenerational communication, bringing children and older members of our community together to learn about cultures and history through woven items. Another local educational nonprofit organization, Doing Good with Wood, will guide participants through the process of making their own wooden kaleidoscope. Doing Good with Wood brings people together to learn design, woodworking, and “making”, as well as entrepreneurship and philanthropy.
