Beware: This Post Contains (Super! Epic!) Cat Video

We've been a cat free zone for 15 years here on All Songs Considered, but today, for good reason, we break our rule. It's Friday. I'm in a silly mood, and have been since watching this cat video, which has apparently short-circuited my normal news filter.

How did this happen? Let me take you on a trip back in time: On this week's All Songs Considered we played music by a super awesome musician known as Telekinesis. But this week I've also been obsessed by a new app called myNoise that includes the calming, magic sounds of a cat purr complete with the ability to shift the tone and texture of that purr, which sends me to dreamland. As the show was progressing, cats became thematic and I searched to find a connection between cats and the name Telekinesis. And that's when I uncovered this cat with telekinetic powers. You can watch this powerfully riveting docudrama right here. Caution, this may overtake your already busy day.

In 1988, a determined Bob Boilen started showing up on NPR's doorstep every day, looking for a way to contribute his skills in music and broadcasting to the network. His persistence paid off, and within a few weeks he was hired, on a temporary basis, to work for All Things Considered. Less than a year later, Boilen was directing the show and continued to do so for the next 18 years.
