Nearly 25 years ago, Michael Bloomberg and Matthew Winkler founded Bloomberg News. Since then, Winker has been a central force in the newsroom, even while Bloomberg took a decade-long pause from the company to serve as New York City’s mayor.
In his time, Winkler developed a reporting and editing method widely used in the newsroom called “The Bloomberg Way.” Though recently, the way seems to be more criticized than valued by staffers.
Yesterday, the company announced Winkler would be replaced as editor-in-chief by John Micklethwait, the editor at “The Economist” magazine. NPR’s media correspondent David Folkenflik talks to Here & Now’s Robin Young about what may be on the horizon for Bloomberg News post-Winkler, and in the waning days of “The Boomberg Way.”
