Yaw Owusu: Anderson Lecture Series Visiting Artist
Fall 2025 John M. Anderson endowed Lecture Series presents:
Yaw Owusu creates sculptural paintings and installations by transforming otherwise worthless materials into valuable objects and encounters. Through chemical processes like oxidation and plating, he alters the texture and color of materials such as stainless steel, wood, copper, found objects, and coins—the smallest denomination of currency—changing them into something other than their natural state. His works mediate the question of how value is created and deconstructed.
