The Playhouse at McConnellstown Ushers in Holiday Festivities with “The 24 Days Before Christmas”

The Playhouse at McConnellstown Ushers in Holiday Festivities with “The 24 Days Before Christmas”

The most wonderful time of the year kicks off with The Playhouse at McConnellstown’s production of “The 24 Days Before Christmas,” opening November 17th.

Written by Jason Pizzarello, “The 24 Days Before Christmas” is an adaptation of Madeleine L’Engle’s classic holiday tale. The Austin family has a cherished tradition of doing something special every day counting down to Christmas - from baking cookies to decorating the tree.

This year is a stressful one for Vicky Austin as she's cast as the youngest angel in the history of the Christmas Pageant. Plus, the family is preparing for the birth of a new brother or sister. What kind of Christmas Eve would it be without Mother to help hang stockings and sing everyone to sleep with carols? Filled with elves, carols, and laughter, this timeless story is sure to bring a smile to your face and a tear to your eye.

“Audience will love this show because it’s so fun, and everyone is guaranteed to have a laugh,” said cast member Catherine Weld.

The cast includes Catherine Weld as Vicky Austin and Gracelyn Grove as Robin Austin. Cora Dickey plays Young Vicky Austin, and Elsie Weld portrays Suzy. Ash Solomon portrays Janie, and Jason Morse is the Christmas Pageant Director.

Natalie Thompson is Beth. Lydia Thompson is Donna, and Linus Donahue plays Jeremy. Jason Solomon and Katie Dickey are Dr. and Mrs. Austin. Elias Powell, Brady Young, and Clay Glenny are the elves.

Jennifer Powell directs this production. The creative team includes Keith Sutton (lighting), Rick Brown (sound), Barb Hughes (technical assistance), Don Deitz (set design), and Jeanne Nagurny (costumes). The set construction team includes the cast, the creative team, Don Deitz, and Hunter McVey.

“The cast has been working hard to bring this charming Christmas story to life,” Powell commented. “It will certainly put you in the holiday spirit.”

“The 24 Days Before Christmas” opens on November 17th and continues November 18th, 24th, and 25th at 7:30 p.m. Sunday matinee showings are November 19th and 26th at 2:00 p.m. Ticket prices are $15 for regular admission and $13 for seniors (age 60 and older) and students (age 6 and older).
