The Global Effect of Climate Change on Human Health
Dr. Brian King, professor and Chair of the Geography Department at Pennsylvania State University will present a program entitled, The Global Effect of Climate Change on Human Health. This talk will examine the current and future possibilities for human health in an increasingly dynamic and uncertain world. Anthropogenic climate change is transforming social and ecological systems with complex and uneven effects ranging from heat exposure, food security, and extreme weather events. Drawing upon the existing scientific literature, coupled with first-hand fieldwork in the United States and Southern Africa, Brian will provide an overview of some of the health effects of climate change upon human health, with particular attention to the geographies of differential impacts and adaptive capacity.
