Providing Dementia Education to the Community

Providing Dementia Education to the Community

Penn State Altoona will host "Providing Dementia Education to the Community: A Discussion in light of ‘All the Memories that Remain’" from 1:35 to 2:35 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 5, in the Titelman Study of the Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts. The discussion will be led by recently graduated Penn State Altoona student Taylor Michelone and respondent Kelly Munly, associate professor of human development and family studies at Penn State Altoona. Light refreshments will be served. This event is free and open to the public.

Building on the insight into the journey families undertake when they have a loved one living with dementia offered by “All the Memories that Remain,” this event will introduce attendees to a program in our own area helping families with this journey: Dementia Friends. Michelone, a leader in the program, will talk about her experience with the program and provide information on elements of the training participants in the program undertake.

The event is part of Penn State Altoona’s Common Read initiative.
