Penn's Woods Music Festival Orchestra

Penn's Woods Music Festival Orchestra

The 2023 festival concludes with the Penn’s Woods Festival Orchestra. The final concert continues the theme of the first with works influenced by other music or musicians. The concert opens with Le Tombeau de Couperin by Maurice Ravel, influenced by the Baroque suite rather than any specific member of the musical Couperin family. György Ligeti’s Concert Românesc was influenced by the folk music of his homeland in Transylvania (at the time a part of Hungary, now in Romania). The audience will also have the opportunity to hear Astor Piazzolla’s little-known but amazing Sinfonietta and flute professor Naomi Seidman in C.P.E. Bach’s Flute Concerto in D Minor, written for the flute-playing King Frederick the Great.
