The final chamber recital of the festival features Andreas Oeste and Stephen Feldman in Ruth Crawford Seeger’s Diaphonic Suite No. 4 for oboe and cello, the Pennsylvania Quintet (Naomi Seidman, Andreas Oeste, Anthony Costa, Margaret Fay, and Sarah Schouten) with guest clarinetist Anthony Poehailos in Leoš Janáček’s Mládí for woodwind sextet, and the concert closes with Beethoven’s Quartet in C Minor, op. 18 no. 4 performed by Sally Williams Minnich, Mark Minnich, John Roxburgh, and Jonathan Dexter. C minor is often cited as “the” minor key for Beethoven, used in such monumental works as the fifth symphony, the “Pathetique” piano sonata, and his final piano sonata, op. 111.
