Open Music plays Braxton, Ra, and Wolff
Discipline and Exercise: Open Music brings together a 7-piece acoustic ensemble to explore the intricately beautiful music of three of our most beloved composers: Anthony Braxton, Sun Ra, and Christian Wolff. Each of these composers was interested in music as an ongoing, communal, and flexible practice, and they each wrote series of pieces that nurtured exactly this kind of world: Braxton's 'Compositions', Wolff's 'Exercises', and Ra's 'Disciplines'.
