Leading Locally: Centre Region Climate Initiatives and Community Partnerships
Leading Locally: Centre Region Climate Initiatives and Community Partnerships
We have asked Pam Adams, Regional Planning Director for the Centre Region Council of Governments - to discuss what local government is doing to address climate change and she will speak to a host of initiatives, programs and projects. This will be a very informative presentation with handouts so you can follow along.
Topics will include local government and community actions, local businesses taking action, solar installations, solar power purchase agreements, sustainable transportation, EV workshops, Recent Federal grants for street and sidewalk safety and resiliency to extreme weather, renewable natural gas for lower emission fuel, food waste drop off, UAJA’s anaerobic digester for natural gas collection, Communities for Cop, Prepare Pa., Reducing Industrial Sector Emissions and Vehicle Charging Infrastructure.
Pam will also address gaps in Climate Action that slow forward progress. But even with federal and statewide gaps, there is still a great deal we can do locally to advance climate action and provide focus for the coming year - including the Community Stewardship Network, C-PACE as an energy efficiency financing tool for property owners, the Resiliency PSU Project and the progress report on advancing the goals of the Climate Action and Adaptation Plan.
