Jewelry Making: Wave Ring (The Rivet)
This single session class will take place over the course of 2 hours on Oct 7 from 2:30-4:30pm at The Rivet.
In this beginner friendly jewelry making class, learn to make a forged ring with a stunning wave donning the middle of the ring. This ring can be worn on it's own or paired and soldered to create an intricate statement piece.
In this class students will learn the proper technique to size, lay out and fabricate a ring blank. Techniques covered in this class include: filing; using a jeweler’s saw to create a tight-fitting seam; soldering with hard silver solder; forming and sizing a completed ring; and machine polishing using a flex-shaft and polishing compounds. At the conclusion of this class students will leave with the knowledge and skills needed to fabricate a forged ring from wire.
Please note: Closed toed shoes are required in our studio at all times.
What is The Rivet?
The Rivet is a makerspace designed for community members who want to take creative or technical classes, learn a new hobby, or use our equipment for their own projects. Several small businesses also work in our space. Many of our classes are taught by community members who want to share their skill.
Workshop hours are for adults 18+. Equipment areas include: woodworking, metalworking, woodturning, welding, pottery, laser cutter, large format printer, embroidery machines and textiles area, 3D printers, jewelry making, electronics, bike repair, and more.
The Rivet is part of Discovery Space, a nonprofit lifelong learning organization aimed at sparking creativity and curiosity for all ages. The main entrance is located beside the large garage door.
