How to Letter Signs for a Business
How to Letter Signs for a Business
Revamp your business signage with this workshop! Whether you work for a local business or own one yourself, this class is for you. We will spend the class learning the basics of lettering and design while creating eye catching signage at your brick and mortar store or for pop ups.
Window art and sidewalk sandwich boards draw people in to your booth or store, small signs help answer customer's questions and organized menus give customers a clear idea of what you offer and your prices. After leaving this class, you'll feel confident creating these for your business. And, you'll be in good hands! As a previous Main Street Manager turned small business owner, I know how important signage is to a business and as a hand letterer I've compiled all the tips and tricks for creating it.
We'll spend the beginning part of the class learning lettering and signage basics, including my recommended tools, then move into creating signs for your business. The tips and tricks we'll work through will be applicable for everything from window designs to menu boards to small signs to fun seasonal sandwich boards. This class is intended to help you create eye popping signage that's not only easy for you to create, but is something you can change as needed.
If you already have sign(s) and paint/chalk pens on hand, bring them with you or a medium tabletop chalkboard and markers will be provided (choose appropriately at check out).
This class will be held at The Makery in downtown State College on Monday May 18, 2026 from 12-1:30pm.
