Hometown Voices: Hometown Voices: Erica Quinn & Brad Baumgartner
On Sunday, March 16, at 3pm, Hometown Voices will feature two writers—Erica Quinn and Brad Baumgartner—at Tempest Studios (140 Kelly Alley).
Erica Quinn is an artist and educator whose practice focuses on the meaning of place and space, integrating analog photography utilizing expired film, moving image, and poetry. Excavating the complexities of memory and loss, this work articulates an occupation of the liminal. Quinn graduated from Juniata College in 2010 with a B.A. in Photography & Literature and earned her M.F.A. in Photography from the Pratt Institute in 2013. Quinn is the Executive Director of 3 Dots, an arts and innovation space in Downtown State College, and teaches photography at Penn State University.
Brad Baumgartner is a writer, theorist, and editor based in State College, PA. He is the author of several books, including Dead Man's Switch: Glissades (2022), Weird Mysticism (2021), Stylinaut (2021), Celeste: Our Lady of Flowering Marvel (2020), and others. In his creative work, Brad is interested in transdisciplinary approaches to experimental writing and poetic practice, exploring the intersections of speculative aesthetics, experimental poetry and poetics, and theory fiction. Currently, he is at work on Rat Icon: Disjecta Membra, a collection of fragments, poems, and short theoretical writings, as well as a book of experimental prose entitled Encoffined in a Fibre Bundle: A Tale of Undeath and Desire.
