This Halloween, local nonprofit The ACRES Project wants you to lace up your shoes and put on your best costume for their inaugural Halloween Hustle 5K fundraiser. The family-friendly fun run will begin at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 31 at the Sidney Friedman Parklet, 241 S Fraser St. in Downtown State College. ACRES partnered with the Penn State sorority Alpha Xi Delta to organize the event. Racers can walk, jog or run at their own pace and are all encouraged (young, old, and four-legged) to dress up in their Halloween costumes for a chance to win prizes donated by local businesses. In addition to the costume contest, there will also be family-friendly Halloween activities and crafts at the parklet for participants to enjoy. All proceeds from the event benefit The ACRES Project, a State College nonprofit whose mission is to foster independence, self-advocacy, social opportunities and work/life skills for local adults with autism.
