Film Screening and Panel Discussion: The Zone of Interest

Film Screening and Panel Discussion: The Zone of Interest

Please join us for our commemoration of International Holocaust Remembrance Day. This year, we will be screening the Oscar-winning film The Zone of Interest.

This film tells the story of Rudolf Höss, the commandant of Auschwitz, and his wife Hedwig as they strive to build a dream life for their family in a house and garden next to the camp. The Höss' lavishly subsidized tenancy juxtaposes a bucolic Aryan fantasy with the nightmarish realities on which it has (literally) been built.

Our screening of the film will be followed by a short panel discussion and Q&A with Tobias Brinkmann, Kobi Kabalek, and Pearl Gluck, Penn State professors who specialize in film and the history of the Holocaust.
