Dover Quartet and Haochen Zhang

Dover Quartet and Haochen Zhang

Named one of the greatest string quartets of the last 100 years by BBC Music Magazine, the Grammy Award-nominated Dover Quartet has followed a “practically meteoric” (Strings Magazine) trajectory to become one of the most in-demand chamber ensembles in the world.

The ensemble will perform with acclaimed Shanghai-based Haochen Zhang a program including:
• Ludwig van Beethoven, Sonata in E Major, Op. 109, featuring soloist Haochen;
• Marc Neikrug: Piano Quintet No. 2, "In Six Parts," featuring the quartet and soloist; and
• Franz Schubert, String Quartet No. 14 in D minor, D 810, “Death and the Maiden,” featuring Dover Quartet.

Zhang is the first Chinese competitor to be awarded the 2009 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition Gold Medal and, at age 19, one of the event’s youngest First Prize winners.
