Considering Matthew Shepard

The Penn State School of Music presents Considering Matthew Shepard by Craig Hella Johnson at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15, in the Recital Hall. This powerful, staged theatrical work recounts the murder of Matthew Shepard, a gay student at the University of Wyoming and victim of a hate crime, while reflecting on the aftermath, wider impact, and the legacy of his life.

The performance features the Penn State Concert Choir, Penn State Opera Workshop, and an instrumental ensemble, under the direction of Christopher Kiver and dawn pierce, with collaboration from School of Theatre lighting design faculty. Scored for soloists, choir, and instrumentalists, the work offers a moving and profound evening of music and reflection.
