Concert by flutist Cathy Herrera
State College flutist Cathy Herrera will present "Piazzolla, Pixinguinha and Premieres" as part of the UUFCC Music Series on Sunday, May 5. She will be joined by Cecilia Blackwell, flute; Brent Register, guitar; Gabriel Herrera, trombone; Jacob Herrera, trumpet and ukelele, and Jim Latten, percussion. Cathy will play five different flutes on this program, which will include music from the Baroque era, music by Piazzolla (Argentina), Pixinguinha (Brazil), and premieres of original compositions by Cathy and Brent Register. Cathy Herrera holds a Doctorate in Flute Performance and a Certificate in World Music. She founded the Flutopia Initiative, which presents benefit concerts for local charities. Cathy is the Flute Lecturer at Juniata College and performs with the Nittany Valley, Altoona, and Penn's Woods Symphony Orchestras.
