Afghan New Year at the Village
Join us at Ten Thousand Villages on Saturday, March 18 from 12:00-4:00 as we celebrate Nowruz, the Afghan New Year! Nowruz is a celebration of spring that dates back to the 6th century BCE. Learn about Nowruz traditions in Afghanistan, plant Sabzeh (wheatgrass), enjoy henna art, and take home some Haft Mewa (Seven Fruits)! This family-friendly event is free and does not require pre-registration.
Schedule of Events:
12:00-4:00: Planting Sabzeh for Nowruz plant your own wheatgrass to take home
1:00: Nowruz in Afghanistan Presentation by Storai Jalali/Murtaza Jalali
1:30: Setting the Nowruz Table Demonstration by Storai Jalali/Murtaza Jalali
2:00-3:00: Henna Art free henna design on hand
