2025 marks the 63rd year of the AAUW State College Used Book Sale. All of the books are donated by local community members, then sorted and priced by AAUW State College members and volunteers throughout the year. The sale is held four days: May 17-18-19, 9 am-8:00 pm; May 20, 9 am-7:00 pm.

About 4,000 boxes of books (roughly 150,000 books) makes this sale one of the largest in the country. There will be a map at the Arena floor entrance with a layout of where categories are displayed.

Books are individually priced and priced to sell, sorted into 30 different categories. The children's section alone boasts over 25,000 books. Other popular sections are art, biography, collectors, fiction, literature, fiction, history, hobbies, mysteries, and sports.

There will also be loads of puzzles and games for sale, sheet music, CDs, DVDs and audiobooks.

Due to safety and fire regulations, Penn State limits the total number of people inside the Arena to 450 at any one time. While many people naturally come early the first day of the sale, there will be a wait outside for those who are not among the first 450. We can guarantee that the selection of books is extremely strong through the weekend, making Sunday a great shopping day as well.

Monday and Tuesday are bargain days!! There will still be lots of books available and the quality is often exceptional. Monday, May 19 is Half Price Day and Tuesday, May 20 is Bag Day, when a bag of books may be purchased for $10.

Book sale proceeds will be awarded to local non-profits for programs that help advance equity for women and girls. Four undergraduate scholarships to returning adult women students are also awarded annually.

Cash, checks and major credit cards will be accepted. Parking is free. Shoppers, please bring your own shopping bags.
