State College's First 'Pride Parade' Goes Virtual

Jun 11, 2020

On Saturday, State College will host its first-ever Pride parade. The parade, which originally would have gone through downtown, will be entirely virtual due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Even though the State College Pride parade will be confined to an online format, co-chair Tamar London expects a positive experience.

“I’m just so proud and excited of everything that we’ve put together in such a short amount of time," London said. "To be honest, I’m really, really proud of the whole event.”

The Centre LGBTQA Support Network, which organized the event, is gathering photos that will be featured in a parade slideshow.

In addition to the parade, there will be a virtual film festival, a Q&A and more activities starting Friday and going through the weekend. Activities such as the annual “GAYLA” party and Drag Bingo will be available via Zoom on the group’s website.
